Grundlovsdag celebration

This year’s Grundlovsdag celebration at the Danish Home on 1065 Quaker Bridge Road, Croton-on-Hudson, NY, will take place on Sunday June 6, 2010 – parking and admission free.

11 a. m. open-air church service with Pastor Julie Sløk, Den Danske Sømandskirke; 12 noon – 6 p. m. food, beverages, live entertainment.  For more information check the Danish Home’s website www.danishhome.org.

Meet a Danish Winemaker

Danish winemaker Morten Hallgreen, educated in France and based in Finger Lakes, USA, will be speaking about his background and presenting his wines.

This is a joint event with DJOEF and the Danish Seaman's Church.

The price of participating in the event is $20, to be paid at the event. Deadline for registration is May 10th.
The wines presented will be sold at the event.

Farewell to consul general gettermann

Please join us as we bid farewell to our Consul General for 5 years, Torben Gettermann. Throughout his 5 years in New York Ambassador Gettermann has done a tremendous job serving Danish business life, and we hope you will help us send him off to his next post in Hong Kong with a proper farewell worthy of New York.

The Danish film candidate for this year's Oscar race, 'Frygtelig Lykkelig / Terrible Happy' will premier in the US in February 2010. Before this, the American distributor will have a screening and followingly a Q&A with director Henrik Ruben Genz and producer Thomas Gammeltoft.

His Royal Highness Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark will address the Chamber. His Royal Highness will talk about his role as Patron for the Danish Climate Consortium. Finn Mortensen, Chief Executive Officer of the Climate Consortium, will also address the Chamber. After the formal program His Royal Highness will be present at a reception to meet with Chamber members.

Chocopologie visit

Chocopologie by Knipschildt Chocolatier is well-renowned café - retail store - chocolate factory located in the charming downtown area of South Norwalk, CT. Knipschildt Chocolatier is widely recognized for handmade artisan chocolates and confections that are based on traditional classic recipes, but with a modern gourmet twist.

On September 19th members of the Danish American Chamber of Commerce are invited to visit Chocopologie to see how Knipschildt's delicious chocolates are made and to learn about Knipschildt's story and success. A lovely brunch with chocolate as the theme will also be served.

Annual Nordic forum 2009 - Green leadership

The Danish American Chamber of Commerce and the other Nordic-American Chambers of Commerce and in cooperation with The American-Scandinavian Foundation (ASF) hosted the annual Nordic Forum at Scandinavia House.

This year's theme was "Green Leadership" and the event included a panel discussion followed by a reception.

Christmas luncheon

On the 12th day of Christmas, the DACC New York invited our members to the annual DACC Christmas Luncheon.

Continuing our proud tradition, this year's Christmas Luncheon took place in the beautiful surroundings of the Harvard Club of New York City. As always, there was a Christmas raffle with wonderful prizes. Over 120 people participated in celebrating the holiday spirit.

The second Sustaining members' dinner of 2008 took place on Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008. The guest speaker was Torsten Sløk, Director of Deutche Bank Securities, who presented his view on the financial crisis and the presidential transition.

Bodum event

Since closing its “landmark” 14 th Street store in the Meatpacking District almost a year ago Bodum USA is today running ecommerce and wholesale operations only. This significant change brings about a whole new set of challenges but also opportunities and requires creativity and out-of-the-box thinking.

President of Bodum USA, Thomas Perez, was September's guest speaker and told participants about Bodum’s successful restructuring and new initiatives.

The Danish American Chamber of Commerce, in association with the other Nordic chambers, hosted the Economic Forum 2008 with keynote speaker US Chief Economist Mr. John Ryding and economists Torsten Sløk and Gauti Eggertsson.

Annual meeting

The DACC had it's annual meeting where the slate of candidates of new board members were elected. The new board members are Mikael Hougs, DIBD, Per Haubro Jensen, Knoedler Gallery, Fritz Knipschildt, Knipschildt Cholatier, Henrik Møller Jensen, Westpac, and Jesper Løvendahl, VerticPortals.

After the annual meeting and election, Dan Buriak from Pfizer Global Manufacturing gave an inspiring and enlightning presentation on Diversity and Inclusion followed by a Q&A session.

World-Class Leaders - the will to lead

The Danish American Chamber of Commerce hosted a meeting with Leadership guru Sigfried W. Andersen on April 29th at the Consulate General.

Sigfried W. Andersen is known in the international business community for carrying out Leadership training programs for more than 25 years. He has acted as Leadership consultant and educator to numerous Scandinavian, US and Asian companies including A.P. Møller Maersk, H. Lundbeck, Haldor Topsø, SAAB Defence, Singapore Computer Science, and IBM. Furthermore, he is the founder and CEO of the International Consulting and Training Group established in 1986 with more than 10.000 satisfied clients. The IC&TG consists of 8 partners and more than 70 associates including 7 excellent professors from international Business Schools in Australia, the US, Ireland, France and Switzerland.

bloomberg visit

DACC members were invited to a special visit to the Bloomberg Building on Wednesday, February 13 th. Bloomberg Headquarters L.P. is located in the building, and we were given a guided tour through the “office of the future”. The building stands at 54 stories tall, reaching 806 feet (246 meters). Construction started in 2001 and was completed in 2005. The architects behind Bloomberg Tower are Cesar Pelli and Associates.
