Colonel Thor's Tours:  Afghanistan and Beyond

Join us for a fireside chat with Colonel Thor Aron Hilton, Denmark’s Military Advisor to the United Nations in New York, at our exclusive DACC virtual event on May 18, 2021 at 5 p.m. for a closer look at international diplomacy, security threats, and Danish-American military relations.

Col. Hilton will discuss the transformation of the Danish military over the past 30 years by reflecting on his own career, which has brought him to war zones and other hotspots around the world, including Bosnia, Iraq, and the Afghanistan-Pakistan region, and now at the comparatively sedate United Nations in New York, where he promotes and advises on Denmark’s multilateral discussions and peace efforts.

Col. Hilton will recount personal experiences from his time in Afghanistan and explore what to expect after the Western powers' military withdrawal. He will also elaborate upon whether military power is still a viable tool for handling current security threats and provide perspectives based on his career—likely peppered with some salty anecdotes.
