POSTPONED - NEW DATE TBC - NORDIC SERIES OF EVENTS - LIVING AS AN EXPAT

Living as an Expat - The Nordic Chambers of Commerce in New York are excited to present their third event of the Nordic Series; this time on the topic of living as an expat in the United States.

Come and join us for an interesting evening at Gateway with speakers Katarina Holm-DiDio, leadership and executive career coach, and Dr. Kenneth Pound, professor of psychiatry at Columbia University. The two speakers will share their expertise on the psychological impacts of relocation, the cultural shock dilemma, and other strategies to coping with a new life abroad.

The event will also feature stories from expatriates who will be sharing their personal stories in a panel discussion, moderated by Katarina Holm-DiDio.

Dr. Kenneth Pound is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Psychoanalyst treating individuals and couples in private practice in Manhattan. He received both an M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Berkeley’s Wright Institute. He is Clinical Professor in Psychiatry at Columbia University (College of Physicians and Surgeons), and serves on the faculty of the Columbia University Center for Psychoanalytic Training and Research, where he is Co-Chair of Recruitment.

He is a Clinical Supervisor at Columbia University and City University of New York, and has been a faculty member at New College of San Francisco and at Berkeley’s Wright Institute. He was Director of Doctoral Studies at the California Institute of Psychology, San Rafael, California.

Dr. Pound also specializes in psychodynamically informed couples treatments and in working with foreigners living abroad and lectures frequently on psychological impacts of expatriation. Dr. Pound has particular expertise in working with the Danish community in New York.

Katarina Holm-DiDio is a Leadership and Executive Career Coach and Intercultural Trainer with over 20 years of international experience in human resources, learning and development, and as a coach and trainer. An expatriate turned immigrant to the United States, she grew up in Finland and has called the United States home for the past 21 years.

She launched her U.S. career at Columbia University; then moved on to serve at the U.N. Secretariat in Human Resources for several years; before she left to fulfill a more entrepreneurial dream as an intercultural trainer and expatriate spouse/partner coach. Currently she coaches expatriate managers, leaders, and women. Her passion is developing millennial leaders for successful global careers. She works in both the for-profit and multilateral sectors. She is a consultant with UNFPA, a leadership coach with Seton Hall University Buccino Leadership Institute.

Katarina is also ICF Certified in Leadership Coaching for Organizational Performance and has two Masters Degrees: in Mental Health Counseling and in Social Science. As an avid networker, she thrives on connecting people and serves on multiple non-profit boards in leadership positions.
