DACC are looking for a new self-driven and passionate General Manager

 General Manager Danish American Chamber of Commerce

– Part Time –

 

The Danish American Chamber of Commerce in New York (DACC) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to connecting people, building a strong community, and advancing the business interests of its members while strengthening commercial ties between Denmark and the United States.

We are seeking a part-time General Manager for our Secretariat, with a start date of June 1, 2025. This is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys working with a diverse range of stakeholders and tasks.

 Position details:

  • Part-time: Estimated 60+ hours per month on an annualized basis.

  • Hybrid work environment: Choose between a desk at a co-working space in Midtown, Manhattan, working from home, or a combination of both.

  • Engagement with a broad network of U.S. and Danish organizations, other chambers of commerce, and corporate entities.

Key responsibilities

Daily operations

  • Monitor and respond to emails and voicemail (using your own phone).

  • Collaborate with board members to compile and write the monthly newsletter (in English).

  • Manage social media channels (LinkedIn, Facebook) and execute marketing initiatives.

  • Maintain memberships using our CRM system, Wild Apricot.

  • Connecting people - you serve as a gateway to our community, providing the connections that others need.

  • Grow the organization by strengthening relationships with current members and attracting new ones in collaboration with our board committees (Win-Back and Lead).

 Event coordination

  • Organize and manage events, invitations, RSVPs, and event communications using MailChimp, Eventbrite, and Squarespace.

  • Plan and execute monthly events (key function).

  • Provide logistical support during events (e.g., setting up venues, coordinating catering).

  • Take pictures and upload them to our website.

  • Lead the preparation and coordination of DACC’s flagship event, the Annual Christmas Luncheon at The Harvard Club of New York.

Financial & Administrative Management

  • Handle bookkeeping in QuickBooks, reconciliation of financial records.

  • Handle online banking, processing invoices, and managing payments and bank accounts.

  • Liaise with DACC’s accountant/auditor and Treasurer (note: actual accounting or audit services are not required).

Website & Technology Management

Website and Technology Management involves performing basic updates and maintenance on the DACC website using Squarespace. More advanced technical tasks can be outsourced if needed.

Board Support

Board Support involves participating in quarterly board meetings and helping with minute-taking. It also involves proofreading and distributing board materials, including meeting minutes and board packages. Additionally, this role requires close collaboration with the Chairman, President, and Officers of DACC.

 

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Must provide your own computer, internet connection, and cell phone.

  • Flexible schedule required, as board meetings and social functions often occur in the evening.

  • Excellent spoken and written English (Danish is not required but preferred).

  • Experience in a secretariat or administrative role is desirable.

  • Proficiency in:

    • Website updates (Squarespace or general HTML knowledge preferred)

    • Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint

    • Canva

    • CRM & Event Management tools (Wild Apricot, Mailchimp, Eventbrite)
