The Consulate General of Denmark in New York is looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and ambitious advisor to support our work with ecommerce and export via online as well as offline channels and advise Danish companies in their internationalization efforts in North America. At the Consulate General of Denmark in New York you will be part of our dynamic office consisting of members from different sector teams, you will interact with colleagues in our North America matrix team and be expected to cover the entire US market.
Job description
We are currently looking for an experienced team member who can advise Danish companies on the possibilities of the North American market, identify new opportunities, new business models and new clients (Danish companies) while delivering key services for current clients.
Your business services:
In this position you will advise primarily small and middle-sized Danish companies with the purpose of helping them develop a strong foothold in the North American market. With your strong local network, you will help open doors for Danish companies, create valuable partnerships, assist in creating sales and PR/marketing strategies, and introduce them to potential partners in both the B2B and B2C-sectors. The focus areas of the Multichannel team are primarily the creative industries and consumer goods like design, furniture, fashion and food.
Other tasks will include:
Market research and analysis of the competitors and opportunities in different sectors;
Proactively engaging with potential Danish clients and presenting them with concrete business opportunities and a strategy for bringing their products and services to market;
Carrying out consulting assignments focused on creating new business and collaboration for your clients, while securing ongoing relationships;
Educating US partners and industry professionals on the special features and benefits of Danish products and services;
Preparing Danish clients for the US business culture and impact of cultural differences in communication.
Required qualifications
As a Commercial Advisor, you are measured on the value you create for your clients as well as fulfilling a minimum number of consulting hours per year. You will report to the Head of Trade in New York.
An MSc in business administration, economics, or other commercially relevant education;
5-7 years work experience with multichannel business development in North America, including documented international sales, consulting or business development experience;
Thorough understanding of company strategies, innovation trends and technologies;
Strong ability to identify business opportunities;
Fluency in English, both written and spoken;
Strategic focused while good at implementing and executing projects;
Good at kick-starting new business and initiatives and taking them to the next level.
Desired qualifications
Solid network within the creative industries, design, food sector, consumers goods and/or retail environment in the US;
Solid network within the companies in these sectors in Denmark;
Experience with multichannel and ecommerce strategy and working with different sales channels both online and offline.

Employment conditions
2 year employment with the possibility of extension on a local contract;
A large degree of flexibility in organizing your daily working hours;
